SHN Consulting Engineers & Geologists, Inc. is seeking a Botanist for our Eureka, CA regional office. This position is temporary and part-time for the 2010 field season. Botanists at SHN will investigate the environment and plant communities; assess botanical species and sensitive habitats, such as wetlands; and perform systematic & random sampling, collect data, analyze vegetation and related variables, and interpret and describe results. Additional duties will include surveying, monitoring and mapping rare, wetland and exotic plants for biological evaluations, clearances, and wetland delineation.

You are a good fit for our Botanist position if you have experience in a consulting environment and would like to provide assistance on a variety of projects associated with land development, flood control, restoration, transportation, and water resources for any of a range of clients including the private sector and federal, state, and local agencies. Hours will vary.

Qualifications:
-B.S. Degree in Biological or Environmental Sciences with an emphasis in Botany, from an accredited university or college
-A solid understanding of Western flora with an emphasis on Northern California
-GIS and GPS experience preferred
-Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills
-U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
-Valid California Driver’s license by hire date
