Environmental Engineer
The successful candidate will be working in the environmental consulting business for MWH Americas, Inc., performing a variety of field and office tasks on project teams for federal clients. The work environment stresses teamwork, and good communication skills, both verbal and written, are desired. This position will focus on various environmental remediation, utility and fuel system design, and related data evaluation tasks. The work will include activities at both active and closed federal facilities and Superfund sites. Job responsibilities are expected to include environmental, utility, and fuel system design, environmental sample collection, physical and chemical data evaluation, and report preparation. Other responsibilities include conducting engineering evaluations, preparing site work plans, remedial investigations, and feasibility studies, and planning and executing related field programs. Travel will be required periodically. Description: Under direct supervision, this position is accountable for supporting the assigned project activities through the application of scientific principles and techniques to collect and analyze data to support engineering design and site investigations on medium- to large-sized projects and assisting in the completion of evaluations, reports and other administrative work. This position interacts within the business unit organization internally and with clients externally. Experience in utility and fuel system design is desired but not necessarily required. Responsibilities: 1. Applies standard scientific principles and techniques to evaluate engineering design criteria, treatment system performance, and site conditions. 2. Summarizes technical data in a clear and concise manner in plans, specifications, reports and memoranda that are consistent with the scope of work. 3. Assists in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, supporting proposal production, drafting correspondence, tracking project costs and completing progress reports. 4. Conducts field activities under supervision and participates in such activities as environmental sampling, excavation and remediation, operations and maintenance of treatment systems. 5. Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner. BS and/or MS degree in environmental engineering or related science field. 0-2 years experience (consulting firm or equivalent experience). Strong oral and written communication skills. Consulting and Environmental Engineering experience preferred. DOD experience preferred.
